I was the national leader for the UK delegation of 9 UK participants for 50 days from Oct. 25 to Dec. 13, 2001.
This was the 14th SWY program named Wa Wa Wa – meaning Unity, Friendship, Harmony.
We were all aboard the NipponMaru cruise ship Sailing to:

- Singapore (Singapore, Nov. 25 to 27, 2001)

The program was almost cancelled due to it coming just after the September 11th attack on the Twin Towers in New York. Due to the diverse range of countries on board there was a fantastic cultural exchange and discussion of world politics and issues and this was a fantastic experience inspiring my master’s study and thesis in Globalisation Development and Transition.
